Grand Rapids: A Day of Board of Medicine Renewal Requirements

Let the MSMS Foundation be your source to receive your mandated Michigan Board of Medicine CME – all in one day. Friday, March 10, 8:30 am – 4:15 pm, at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Grand Rapids Airport. Cara Poland, MD, MEd, and A.J. Rush, MD, will begin the day with a two-hour presentation onPain and Symptom Management

Doctor Poland is a recognized expert in addiction medicine and a faculty member at Michigan State University. She earned her medical degree from Wayne State University and was trained in internal medicine at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan and in addiction medicine at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Doctor Poland received her master’s degree in education from Boston University. She has an interest in educating healthcare providers and providers-in-training to improve care for patients with substance use disorders particularly during pregnancy and early parenting.

Doctor Rush is a physiatrist who specializes in both pediatrics and in pain medicine. He earned his medical degree with Temple University. He did a combined residency in Pediatrics and PM&R at Albert Einstein Medical Center and Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, and a fellowship in Clinical Motion Analysis at MossRehab. Doctor Rush is currently the president of the Kent County Medical Society.  He is married to Shana Rush, PhD, CCC-SLP, a fellowship-trained pediatric neuropsychologist and author with whom he shares an office.

  • Implicit Bias Training

This conference fulfills LARA’s requirement for three hours in the area of pain and symptom management (meets the one hour minimum of controlled substance prescribing training), one hour in the area of medical ethics, and three hours of implicit bias training.
