Michigan Medicaid claims data shows hepatitis C testing among pregnant Medicaid beneficiaries rose substantially, from under 10% before 2020 to about 35% in the past one-year period. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recommend screening all pregnant persons for hepatitis C during each pregnancy. Despite this progress, MDHHS continues to emphasize the importance of testing pregnant patients for hepatitis C for early identification, timely medical intervention, and management of potential complications for both parent and child.
