The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Medicaid Program recently released its Community Health Worker (CHW) Policy for public comment. The purpose of the proposed policy is to establish coverage criteria for CHW services.
The MDHHS Medicaid Program plays a crucial role in providing essential healthcare services to Michigan residents who might otherwise struggle to afford necessary care. By expanding coverage to include CHW services, Medicaid seeks to ensure that individuals receive comprehensive and holistic care that addresses not only their medical needs but also addresses the social determinants of health.
The proposed CHW Policy is open for public comment through August 18, 2023. Public comments provide an opportunity for community members, healthcare professionals, organizations, and individuals to share their insights, concerns, and recommendations regarding the proposed policy. Your valuable input can help shape the final policy and ensure that it aligns with the needs and aspirations of your community.
