MDHHS RFI to Ensure Access to Nutritious Foods

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is seeking public input on a proposed set of nutrition-focused in lieu of services (ILOS) in Medicaid. Please review to the RFI for more information. Comments must be submitted via email  with the subject line “Response to Proposed Food and Nutrition ILOS” to MDHHS-EngageMedicaid@michigan.gov by April 5, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET.

As a part of MDHHS’ continuous commitment to deliver Michigan residents equitable, coordinated, and person-centered care, MDHHS will encourage Michigan’s Medicaid Health Plans (MHPs) participating in the Comprehensive Health Care Program (CHCP) to offer ILOS that address Medicaid members’ health-related nutrition needs. ILOS are services the state deems to be medically appropriate and cost effective when provided as substitutes for other Medicaid covered services. MDHHS will designate a set of federally approved ILOS that MHPs may offer starting October 2024. If you have questions, please email MDHHS-EngageMedicaid@michigan.gov with the subject line “ILOS”.
